SAFE SPACES TO HEAL
Somatic Healing for Reactive Bodies
Somatic Healing
Together we identify patterns in the body and belief systems. We learn about your body’s patterns with the intentions of connecting to what survival reactions look and feel. We explore suppression and expressions in the body. We get curious about what beliefs are linked to your somatic reaction and how to unlock new ways to experience your body’s response to the world.
Compassionate Inquiry is a therapy approach created by Dr. Gabor Maté that helps clients gain insight into their current behaviors and beliefs. It is a strategy that I utilize with my clients in helping them see the drive behind their anxiety, reactivity, and trauma responses.

About Me
I identify as a queer woman, mother, activist, educator, artist, trauma survivor, and have committed 4 years of education and growth in the somatic healing field. I have had the joy of working with over 60 clients since opening my practice and have been grateful to witness their connections to self-compassion flourish and their families heal. I dedicated 2 years of study to Compassionate Inquiry and was one of the first cohorts to finalize the coursework developed and taught by Gabor Maté and Sat Dharam Kaur. Compassionate Inquiry was life changing for me to experience as a client as well.
In addition to Compassionate Inquiry, I offer breath-work, embodiment education, and trauma informed yoga/movement practices and communication coaching.
My passion for learning and growing in the healing arts is a part of who I am and how I navigate the world. I am currently developing more knowledge in yoga training and spiritual work connected the Buddhist practice.
I committed to mutual aid and embodiment support for all who want/desire trauma focused healing. I share payment plan options, pay what you can, and mutual aid programs that over 65% of my clients utilize. I belief that connection and compassion to yourself can be one of the most beneficial treatments for trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction. I live and believe in compassionate care and that all of us are worthy of compassion and healing.

What clients say
I met with Birdie once a week for 6 weeks then once a month for 7 months. During that time I discovered why my anxiety was making it difficult to sleep and why fear of people ‘not liking me’ was stressful. I learned about how my body felt when that survival reaction happens and was able to understand it more while I was feeling overwhelmed. Birdie doesn’t give advice or tell you what you need to do. She doesn't diagnose you either, she asks questions about what you believe and about how your body responds during those times. CI taught me how to notice my body during stress/anxiety and not react in the same way I have before. Ultimately, my anxiety still exists but my relationship too it has changed and it's not holding me hostage anymore.

I was abused for most of my childhood and learned suppressed my feelings. I kinda just “floating” through life never being present. After I was diagnosed with an auto immune disorder, migraines, and insominia I became suicidal. I read one of Gabor Mate’s books and found that I was people pleasing that related to my chronic illnesses and anxiety. Then is when I decided to try his therapy approach. Being a people pleaser and suppressing my feelings was killing me, I felt dead already. With CI and meeting with Birdie I was able to learn about suppression of feelings. I learned how to identify feeelings and what they are in my body. Compassionate inquiry is a phenomenal tool to learn about yourself and heal the nervous system.

I was diagnosed with Cptsd from severe neglent and childhood trauma. Life was difficult everyday because of how uncomfortable everything felt. I am currently in therapy and also work with Birdie to understand my body and how to express my feelings. Learning the patterns of my reactivity and parenting my younger self through anger and confusion has helped me communicate better with my family and colleagues. I am still learning how to communicate anger and fear without yelling, or shutting down but it is far less frequent and aggressive and am making progress weekly.
